Project Description: In the spring of 2009 AMS Mechanical Systems Inc. was awarded the expansion of the hydrogen facility
located at the Citgo Refinery in Lemont, IL This project was developed and managed by The Linde Corporation. This new facility is capable of
producing 45 MMSCFD of Hydrogen feedstock for use in the petrochemical refining process.
Our responsibility for this project as the General Contractor is to provide the construction management for all civil, structural and required
sub trades along with the self performance of the UA equipment setting and UA mechanical piping systems. While overseeing as many as fourteen
subcontractors AMS’s most critical role is that of project safety and quality assurance. We currently have two full time safety coordinators
verifying Linde & AMS safety procedure compliance and daily audits. Due to the complexity of this project AMS employs numerous QA/QC inspectors
performing a multitude of functions from overseeing subcontractor scope to our own piping and equipment setting.

New Construction in existing building |
Completion Date: |
Fall 2009 |
Original Contract Value: |
$4,250,000.00 |
Project Description: AMS and UISC joined forces to take Kronos three facilities and combine them into one. AMS/UISC took an
existing cold and dry distribution facility that Kronos had purchased and turn it into a Gyros meat, Pita bread, dairy, and product distribution
center for Kronos products. AMS design included refrigeration, steam, compressed air, waste oil recovery, natural gas piping, and direct contact
hot water systems.
A new ammonia refrigeration system was added for process cooling and the existing ammonia was used for the distribution freezers, coolers, and docks.
The new system is comprised of two -22F 85 ton compressors and two +20F 362 ton compressors. The system is a recirulated liquid ammonia system using
both a high temp and low temp pump recirculators, evaporative condenser with VFD drives, stainless tube evaporators and computer control system.
The new manufacturing process includes 2 – 75HP low pressure boilers, relocation of the existing compressed air system (upgraded to meet higher demands),
a new stainless steal waste oil recovery system, and a new 150 GPM / 130°F direct contact water system for plant clean up.
